Exams wryyy
Yeah, it's AP week. As far as I know, though, I've only got two final exams, so I can pretty much stop caring and come back to this place for real after these tests are over.
Now that Chuneville's ingame, and I'm a simfiler, I'll judge files.

Good notes are pretty hard to force people to make since judges try to just make quick notes and leave out a lot of helpful detail. Give it your best effort and make them impressive. Use the judge's template and be thorough with notations, it's easy stuff.
Overall, I just hope to be enlightened from the influx of judge notes. Would suck to see a bunch of rushed, half-assed notes that we'll have to clean up if things don't work out lol :P Then again, it's better than no notes...

Spoiler!
Sometimes I rush them, oops. But then again I'm always trying to get to as many as possible x.x
Only one song left in queue! Halp please <3
I'm going to be working on getting as many done this weekend as I can but files will still need a 2nd judgement. My dad is going to be up from South Carolina so I'm hoping I can get to them all, but I don't know. Bleh
Spoiler!
I know I'm kinda necro'ing here, but 'eh~
I'll get to it more when I have more free time and my new laptop. As it is, I'm a little pressured with college and stuff and due to my inconsistent internet access I can't always find the time to sit down and make detailed notes. I could do vague notes, but I feel like that's a cop out and I really dislike doing it.
But yeah, I'll definitely judge more once I have the time and internet, 'cause I actually enjoy doing it quite a bit and even though I'm not too confident in my notes (or stepping), I feel like I'm learning a lot about stepping as a whole when I do it~
Also, as an added note, while I appreciate the template you guys use, I don't intend to use it myself because I know I don't fully understand it and I'd rather not look like an idiot by posting the wrong things. I'll try and write more notes like I did for Candy Dance when I get back into it. :')
I haz le #1 post count, bow to your true overlord. >:3

Just gonna use this thread to say a few things. I've been seeing a few people poppin in and starting judging which is great, I'm really happy to see people becoming more active but just a few things:
- Please remember if you're rejecting a file that it should be based on objective errors and not just that you don't like it or something like that.
- If using the judging template (we'd really prefer if people do) make sure you're not marking off a huge amount of points for a small error.
- And please, please, please, start with files that have been sitting longer. Majority of the time that people have been coming in and judging they're going for the most recently submitted file rather than ones that have been sitting for a while.
Thanks guys ^_^ I really hope to see more people coming into judging. If you're someone that wants to, but are unsure of yourself, one of us would be happy to help guide you.

Spoiler!
I just saw this thread.
I can definitely judge ~_~
Okay this simfile reviewing section is pretty dead at the moment but is it a good reason to add files in game before they get decently reviewed ?
I mean, I spent time, on reviewing Destiny... but I feel like I wasted my time.

I think the point is that some of us take the time out to sit down and review files then it's like it doesn't matter anyway because files go in without being actually reviewed at all or not getting the proper amount of reviews. Actually have to admit I'm a bit annoyed considering how much effort AJ and I have put in over the past 6+ months judging files consistently when obviously it really doesn't matter here and this is exactly why people will always say that ThirdStyle has poor chart quality.
Spoiler!
I personally would just like to see more involvement in judging in general. I know that there's a lot of people that aren't exactly well-versed in making proper notes, but there certainly are people who know how to give alright reviews that just aren't. It's certainly not impossible to make an hour free a day to judge a single file -- all I know is the lack of involvement from the rest of the community makes things slightly less motivating to work on. There's nothing wrong with not having time, it's moreso an issue of having time and not utilizing it.
I'm guilty of it too in the past, but right now is entirely just me abstaining from judgment because I don't want to be the one bearing the work and being relied on. There was a fairly long stretch where Kayla and I were the only two people giving detailed reviews under pressure (no songs/one song in queue). It's just mildly frustrating.
Then why do you keep it private ?
Do I need a VIP Simfiler title to get informed about what happens with the submissions ? I mean, there's not a single word on the forum about this. When I've seen there was a {R}Destiny, it was aleady ingame.
I know I'm not really integrated into TS community, I never go to chat, but I definitely agree with Saphira. I can't say much because I only wrote a few reviews and I'm not very active these days, but I think adding new songs in-game for the sake of having new songs in-game can't be a good thing.
Also, I definitely think that actually writing a review, with redacted notes and stuff, forces you to think twice before posting it. Then, you may notice elements within the chart that are intersesting enough to be highlighted, whereas you would've miss them otherwise. When I write a review, I delete, edit and add lot of stuff between the moment when I think I'm done and the moment I actually post it.

Hey guys, sorry for the confusion about the last few files that have been put in game. I never meant to belittle the hard work you guys have been putting into the reviews; getting judgement on files is one of the most critical priorities in TS. Right now, we're in a slump that's larger than usual when it comes to reviews and it's neither fair to the people putting time in to get the judging done, nor to the simfilers and community expecting reviews and quality files. I'm not trying to put people down or point fingers, I'm just re-emphasizing a problem that everyone already knows...it's been brought it up numerous times in chat, in staff meetings, and on the forums.
For the last couple of files, I turned to my simfile mods and active simfilers for support, while checking the files myself and asking numerous times for feedback on the open submissions. Rest assured, I do ask and check the submissions before they go in game to ensure quality isn't completely compromised, and although people don't have time to write out formal reviews, they are at least giving me feedback. Of the open submissions, Infernoplex and Destiny were seen as being good fits for the next files in game. However, I know this is not ideal and I am uneasy myself about moving along by the skin of our teeth, so I'm open to suggestions to really get simfilers motivated when it comes to judging or how to move forward when there's a lack of reviews. Again, it's been discussed numerous times in the past to no avail.
One solution might be to create a special group for judges or offer SP for reviews. I personally don't like bribes, but if it's something that would engage reviewers to do quality reviews, then I'm all for it. An alternative solution is to simply not add any game content until judging happens, at risk of upsetting the community, which is something I've been trying to avoid (so far no real complaints about Infernoplex or Destiny, but I'm not as confident about how other files will be received moving forward). How long will the gap in files be...a week? a month? Would it actually motivate people to judge, or would people become disengaged by lack of progress? Would people even want to submit files anymore? I don't know, and it's a hefty risk to take. Thoughts?
It would be an ultimatum though. No files until people get judge. I can try that out for say a week or two and see if it helps any. I'm also open to any other comments or feedback. Once again, I greatly apologize for any resentment or frustrations that have been caused regarding the past few files.
