    Problem with jumpsteps.

Whenever I try to hit a jumpstep containing 3 or more simultaneous notes, I automatically miss. I know skill isn't the issue because when I play on FFR I have no problem hitting 3 and 4 not jumpsteps. any ideas/suggestions?

It is probably your keyboard that is causing you to do this. Some keyboards can't have three keys simultaneously pressed down. By the by, a three note jump is called a 'hand', and a four note jump is called a 'quad'.

You can try different key setups. I've had issues on some of my keyboards with certain setups. Like I use dfjk now but I couldn't on my laptop keyboard because it would drop taps.

It's probably not flash, it's his keyboard. haha.

I would recommend downloading Stepmania (any version) and test input configurations there, find a comfortable set-up that shows all four keys being registered when held down.

That or buy a new keyboard, but lets not waste money here lol.

    EDIT:

Anyone can do anything on FFR. lol. Thirdstyle doesn't let you split jumps, you're probably splitting the jumps/hands/quads so that the keyboard registers the three or four key combination as two individual 2key taps really fast (Or two key combos "one 1key and one 2key, which can still be hit as perfects since FFR is very lenient.

Keyboard makers seem to really, really like making the WASD keys very responsive to appeal to people who play games. Thing is, WASD is only useful if you're playing one-handed. Finding four good keys for two-handed play is an experiment, and one set never really works for everyone. The first ones to try in this area are perhaps qwop, askl, and dfjk.

In other words, follow the advice above haha

Thirdstyle DOES let you split jumps. I have been splitting hands/quads all the time because of my crappy keyboard and I have been getting perfects anyway...

Not in the same sense you think I'm coming from. When you split the jumps on Thirdstyle, it doesn't register like separate hits would, it tends to register the hits together even if split, and usually take the latest register and give the entire split hand/quad the same judgment for every note in the combination, as does Stepmania, in the same sense that FFR doesn't do that, you can hit one note in a hand perfect and the others can be greats/avs.

Try hit a jump on TS as two distinctly separate notes, and do the same on FFR, you'll understand my point.

You don't also suppose the problem lies in the game itself? I know it works fine for me and some others, but it could be something to do with the inside.

I thank you for the plethora of suggestions, but it was the keyboard. I was using zx,. and just switched to zxm, and the problem resolved itself.

While I can't test it right now (as FFR just had to be down the single time I try to access it) I think I understand what you mean. It doesn't change the fact that both do split them up though, it just judges them differently. It is a valid point never the less.
However when I tried FFR a few years a go, a hold failed immediately as soon as you stopped holding it down, instead of how TS and SM allows you to hit it again to continue it. This was one of the reasons I quickly dropped FFR, since a note while holding two holds would be impossible for me to hit. If they haven't changed that I would be surprised if someone didn't notice that you couldn't hit them... Still, I do think it is the keyboard which is the issue.

EDIT: didn't notice the previous post before I wrote this, I think the tab might have been open for some hours without me realizing it...

What version of FFR are you playing? FFR's engine doesnt allow freeze/hold notes. I joined 6 years ago, but don't recall FFR having hold notes.

If it was the game itself, everyone would be having this exact same problem. I tried Cooke's faulty set-up, worked perfectly fine for me. Most key combos work 4key for me, it when I switch to 6key, it gets significantly harder finding a good 6key combination.

Really? I guess it can't be an issue then xD
I found my old bookmarks to FFR, and it seems there was a simfile database there, 3 years ago according to the bookmark creation date. (Link was: http://www.flashflashrevolution.com/sims/ and the name says: "FFR Simfile Database", it just redirects to the main page now.) So I think it must have been a modified version of their engine to provide chart previews. Well, I don't know...

Yeah the simfile database allows holds, it's a separate engine from FFR altogether, one that could use holds, that engine was for public leisure uploads/downloads, more of a community "how-am-i-doing-with-stepping?" thing. It got extremely unmanageable and filled with crap and other things, It was taken down before FFR death about a year or two ago. I got a lot free song downloads there lol
