ThirdStyle VG Week 4 - can you survive the lance battle?

Pokemon is a very recognizable series around the world. It initially drew players in with its surprising depth for a monster training game, and the stream of sequels each built onto its initial ideas. The very first Pokemon games were Red and Green, but instead we'll focus on Gold and Silver, released in 1999. These two were almost twice as huge as the first games, featuring not only the new Johto region to explore, but also the adjacent Kanto region. Pokemon HeartGold and SoulSilver are remakes of these for the Nintendo DS.

Remember Lance? The dragon master who could have brought a great end to Pokemon Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow, but fell victim to the final boss swap? He's back in Gold and Silver, though this time as the Champion - yes, somehow he managed to move up in the ranks and yet his monsters suffered a huge level drop in three years. Regardless, the Pokemon G/S Lance Battle music is much better to fit his new role, and this remix by Burn7 is even better than that. Enjoy this fast-paced 3 minute metal track, guitar + keyboard solo and all, with steps by Halogen- that will undoubtedly test your speed and stamina. Can you survive?

Good luck guys - I've already gotten shit from a few people about the guitar solo - honestly, I wanted the difficulty on this song to be brutally high for both FC/AAA difficulty, so I decided to make things harsh while being reasonable. With enough focus, this chart can be full combo'd on Hard; it just takes a bit of practice to figure out how to handle each pattern.

Ugh, dat cut. Would not have chosen that spot if I was to cut it :l even so, I probably wouldn't have cut it [muahahaha 4 minutes, they'll live, plus I like how powerful the real ending is].

First easy AAA, meh.

Bad transition out of the first slowdown for medium.

Hard was a mess, especially in the mini-solos, not the main one.

Overall was kind of disappointed :l but it might be that my expectations were super high since I stepped it before and I knew you'd do it better.

I simply could not chart the full song on Hard, it was driving me absolutely insane. I was getting so pissed. As far as the negative comments, I really couldn't care all that much less because I really like the way the file came out. As long as I pleased one person, I did my job - even if that person was myself.

Well, no offense there sir, but as I stated in the VG Event thread, files weren't judged by what Thirdstyle judges as of late. To where EVERYONE can judge the file, not just a "certain" amount of people. I was not upset with the chart, mainly the solo. I understand stepping it the way you did, but it "should" have probably been stepped smoother. It was all over the place in that part, and that, in my opinion, kills it :/ (inb4 subjectivemanias).

EDIT: Rather, if I'm not mistaken, only ONE person judged these files. Which, to me, is just .... wow

Though, I believe everyone should have gotten the ability to judge. :/

EDIT2: Not to mention, just because this is an event, and don't get me wrong, I'm happy there is another event here, but as I've heard, I don't think certain songs were even judged by more then whoever ran this event, meaning AJ if I can presume as such...


EDIT3: OH. I just saw the end of your post after reading it again. I'm sorry, but personally, people were forced to change up their step charts because it was being judged by a group of people. Look at FFR. People were told that these parts here needed to be changed, here and there blah blah. So, naturally, a lot of peoples charts that THEY thought were great HAD to be changed to please peoples opinions. No offense but if you are gonna make a chart that you love so much, and not be open to opinions or advice from others, then bring your chart over to Dragons Fury and leave it there then. :/ ... At least here, we all have a say in which charts come out and which don't. We are a team here, not individuals who take over everything.

seriously. read my other post in the thread. if this is how people are going to act then I'll just ****ing back off. I knew I'd be stepping on people's toes when I did this shit and that's exactly why I was adverse to doing so in the first place. no one was complaining until just now.

As much as you say you were willing, no one knew that. You never asked for help and seemed to handle it fine, how were we supposed to know help was needed or even accepted? Communication is key.

On the other side, yes, help could have been offered. I would have, but like you, didn't want to step on toes. This is a learning experience for all of us. Scheiss geshieht, sh!t happens. We now know for the future.

Don't take what I said personally though, I was going to be super hard on the file as it was because I had already stepped it before, like I had said. We live and learn.

I never had a problem with people disliking the file - I'm moreso irritated that the comments started spewing in when a considerably harder file came in. Had this happened with your file, I would have been just as pissed because not only is someone attacking you when they shouldn't, they're also criticizing me for a completely irrelevant reason.

I don't understand why you think that it's because the file is hard >.> if an easy shitty chart got through then it'd be the same thing.

it's the timing. That's all. I felt personally attacked because no one bothered to say anything until just now (and my file is the one getting all of the attention). Frankie said something about the solo being ridiculous and not flowing like a week or two ago when I was still building the file.

never mind all of this, there's no reason to push the issue anymore. I over-reacted and that's it. Let's keep this event going and hopefully everyone will enjoy the files.

Easily one of Aj's most... Aggressive charts... That's for sure...

Hard is, it just isn't a normal Aj chart. It just feels like more of an experimental style. I'm not a huge fan of it personally, but it's not like "bad" or anything I guess is the way to phrase it.

Medium had that 1 kinda disgusting transition from the first slow down but other than that it's an awesome chart. The way you did the huge 24th solo; it was certainly not something I saw coming.

I haven't played the other difficulties yet but I do plan to, seeing as Sakura and I are working on stepping the remaster for FFR, seeing this kind of gives me a clue of what I could have done differently on the sections I stepped.

I was extremely looking forward to this chart after I saw it was coming, and while I'm not like jizzing my pants over it like I expected to, it certainly doesn't disappoint.

Though, I will say that cut is kinda... I disagree with it, but I know the rest of the song is kinda.. Lack luster in things to chart that haven't been done already.
