    Ummm hi

So I decided I might as well check this out after seeing the mention from FFR. Not really sure what I'm doing yet, but I've played a few levels. Had to zoom in a few times and cut off about half the screen so that I could hit stuff even a little accurately, but I still need to work on that. Other than that I'm not quite sure what all there is to do here or what it's really all about. So I guess I'm looking for a little guidance or introductory information.
    Thanks,
    ~A noob

I'll start with welcome to Thirdstyle, you've made a great decision to check us out, as of now, we currently have just under 800 charts to plays from and a fairly easy to manage and edit user profile. Our forums are pretty much meant for the reason any forum boards are for, discussion about anything related or unrelated about Thirdstyle the game. We have an active chatroom and avidchat room as well that you can visit with other members and chat it up. We are still in beta, so other features such as MP, masking, and achievements are currently in the works. Song's are being added at a reasonably rapid rate due to our xmas event with ffr, and I'm taking the liberty and oppurtunity to place BGs on all the songs, so those are being worked on as well. Great to see you joining us, hope you stick around for the unfolding of all our new features coming soon!

Thanks, I'll probably stick around or at least check in every once in a while.
I have two questions about things that are kind of annoying me. Since i had to cut off half the screen and I play with downward scroll, the combo/accuracy display is right in the middle of the screen and fairly large, which gets in the way and kind of annoying with all the flashing. Not sure how that could be fixed though. Additionally, I seem to be missing arrows at random - I'm not really sure what's causing this, although it could be increased sensitivity to holds and a higher accuracy requirement, though usually they're getting completely missed when I'm pretty sure I hit them.
Just minor complaints though, I'll keep playing and see how things go.

Edit: I'd also like to be able to see the information displayed at the top of the game player (life, duration, percentage, etc), so maybe all that stuff could be optionally moved to the sides or something like that?

Totally agree with him, I had nearly the same issues so far.

As for the lag/sync try to close everything else you're using and try Google Chrome or Firefox to see if there's a change.

For lag issues you can either run standalone or try using these two links

    http://thirdstyle.com/play#use-direct
    http://thirdstyle.com/play#use-gpu

We've gotten the combo complaint thing a fair amount. I'm not sure what the official spiel is on that so I won't say anything. I don't think we'll have movable UI elements anytime soon, too busy on other stuff.

another solution is instead of screencutting, you could just speed up the a mod until you have the same reaction time (I got used to the arrow size after 2 days coming over from ffr)

Thanks X, I thought I'd tried that, but apparently not. Have it at 675 now and it seems to work pretty well. So ignore my previous comments in that regard.

One thing I'm having trouble with is BPM changes, mainly slowdowns - Mirage Garden is a good example. It's pretty much the same as reducing the speed mod, and I can't get myself to go slowly enough. (Then there's the end of The Final Conflict where I can't keep up :P.)

Also, do most people here play two-handed as well? Being one-handed makes it even harder for me here with holds involving up or down and then other stuff going on. I guess I just need more practice with that though.

I'll also try it in standalone now, maybe that will fix the random miss thing (the guide does mention something about Firefox causing a problem, so maybe it was that).

Edit: okay for some reason it randomly didn't submit one of my plays, but otherwise working well. Thanks for the help.

Scores not submitting are an Internet connection problem. One day when an actual game update happens, we'll ideally have a Resend button so you can get the game to try multiple times to submit a score.

A lot of people here also happen to be former one-hand players (Xandertrax for one), but most have switched to two hands. I started playing 2-handed so I can't really speak about playstyle.

I don't think it's an internet problem, because everything is still connected and the next thing I play submits correctly without me reloading anything. Though I suppose anything can happen on my school internet. A resend button sounds awesome.

I guess I'm too lazy to switch then :P. It's been so long I don't really feel like starting over to learn a new playstyle (although it probably does better in the long run).

For the final conflict, you can either do simple maths to optimize your ideal playing amod speed, or you can just lower it a little bit and experiment around until the speedup becomes easier to hit on a slower amod

And yes, Two-handed is a much more common playing style. Some people play "Index" which is index fingers, mainly on the arrow keys, but more commonly, people play "Spread" which involves your left hand hitting the left most notes (left and down) on two keys on the left side of the keyboard and your right-hand hitting the rightmost notes (up and right) on the right side of the keyboard. e.g. I play Spread on "qw[]" q=left, w=down which is my middle and index finger on my left hand, and [=up, ]=right, which is my right hand on index and middle fingers.
