I'm thinking of a REST API where you can query the database (usernames, leaderboards, levels, user scores, etc).

And you came to that conclusion...how? To "query" the database does not mean to submit data to it, but rather to request data from it. And what he's really asking for is already available on-site in some form.

I mean it sounds like a solid idea down the line, but I don't think it's on the planned feature list for any time soon.

Hey, I like this idea. Or maybe a SOAP API so you could make a thirdstyle standalone client? You should ask if you can build one :P

I can understand that this would probably take a long time and go largely unused, too.

Its been talked about quite a lot in the past. Time has the biggest impact currently .. as it always does. Some good ideas though ..
