:( i need people like that locally to me... i'm a certified coach, but haven't really tried to get any students. pretty much anyone under 180 i know i can improve; lower they are, more i can improve them. but 180 throwing a straight ball... that's super easy to improve.

Just got back from a local ABT tournament (amateur bowling tour). Was about 30 minutes from me... not to bad, given they cover all of NJ, DE, and Eastern PA. I have no idea what all I entered, but I wound up putting in $149... which got me in the main pot, bonus bucks, high game pot, strike jackpot, 4 brackets, and the scratch pot. I think.

I shot a scratch 681 for my set, which was good enough for 2nd of those who entered the scratch pot; got me $80 back. 3 people qualified in my division (the higher one) on Saturday, and only 2 were going to qualify on Sunday... luckily I was +153, and qualified second (behind the guy who beat me in the scratch pot). 5 of us in my division on to the semi-finals, along with 6 from the lower division. 5 from each division make the stepladder finals, so our semi-final was purely for seeding. Didn't have a very good semi-final set, ending with a 596... good enough for last place.

So in the 4 vs 5 match, I went back 6 to eek out a 244-234 win (I was giving the guy 4 pins). 5 vs 3 in the second match, I was again giving 4 pins... and shot 223. Not good enough, as my opponent carried a few lucky strikes and had by far his best game of the day, a 236. Finished in 4th, good for another $125.

So all told, I was +$51 on the day. Guess I can't complain too much about that. Although as the only lefty in the semis or finals, I should have had a nice advantage that I just didn't take advantage of.

    A 5 month bump.

I got in trouble in my brother's doubles Scholarship league tonight (one youth/one adult). Apparently I didn't know you couldn't switch back and forth from lefty to righty. I got a word from the league head and he said if I'm caught doing it again, I will be kicked out of the league.

    Comforting.

yeah... you DEFINITELY can't switch hands in the middle of sanctioned competitions. gotta pick 1 hand and stick with it. USBC rules state that your series (and possibly your entire team's points for the night) are forfeit if you throw even 1 ball with an opposite hand.

Huge virgins on the USBC Panel. Can't switch hands? Man, I wonder if they can change their tampons between meetings or if they have to keep the same ones in their cooter the whole day.

I was unaware of the rules, but good thing I got a warning.

    That's a silly rule.

It's really not... certain spares are MUCH easier going cross-lane (specifically 7-pins for lefties and 10-pins for righties). If you were allowed to use either hand, many people would have an easier time hitting 10 pins with their left hand than right. (or 7 pins with their right hand, for lefties).

Although, 99% of people don't even think about things like this. But that's why there's a rulebook... to cover everything. Try reading the rulesbook for any of the major sports... they cover EVERYTHING. There are so many rules in baseball, football, etc that you'd have no idea existed.

Still vote that they are huge virgins for caring. Not everyone is great with both hands. It would be a special skill if they could steady their non-hand and bowl it down the lane to knock some pins over.

Every so often I bowl a game with my off hand. I'm getting pretty accurate but I roll it so slow.

I bowled my first 300 game across two lanes Sunday night. Also started the next game with the front six so I had 18 in a row :)

Bowling has never really appealed to me, whenever I go with people they seem to care a lot about how they do and shit and I just roll the ball

I once beat Frankie (Krunkykai22) at a game when meeting up with him, Sara (Ichliebekase), and Jess (Panic4Me). He's ridiculously good too.

    Spoiler!

It's been a long time since I played bowling, the place where I live does not have any nearby bowling alley.
