Beta Achievements for Renard and Goukisan as well as new levels from YouriX and Dan Johansen

Lots of folks chatting and working (<a href="/profile/isk">isk</a>, <a href="/profile/drugstorecowboy">drugstorecowboy</a>, <a href="/profile/patashu">patashu</a> and <a href="/profile/vote4nixon">vote4nixon</a>) has given us the very first beta version of achievements.


<b><u>Achievement 1</u>: Get 90% on Goukisan's <a href="/goukisan/play">Adrenaline</a> on easy unlocks Goukisan's <a href="/stats/level_scores/78">Betrayal of Fate</a></b>

<b><u>Achievement 2</u>: Pass Renard's <a href="/renard/play">Gateway</a> on easy unlocks Renard's <a href="/stats/level_scores/77">Amber Starlight, I Love You</a></b>

<b>Note: This version of Achievements requires a game refresh to show up. So .. these are sort of hidden levels :)</b>

His music contains various instruments, some ethnic touches, some synth work and a lot of orchestral arrangements. <a href="http://lapfox.tumblr.com/" target="_blank">Renard Queenston</a> is a man with many names and talents. Running LapFox Trax and <a href="http://renard.teknolust.org/psurg/" target="_blank">Psurge Design</a> from Hamilton Ontario, Renard continues to release new and exciting projects. While maintaining his blogs and creating, producing, and marketing his own music, he still manages to have time to create flashy graphic designs for all his projects. Renard has been making electronic music since 2000 and is widely known in many sub genres by his other pseudonyms.

"I'm just a dude with a computer, really," says <a href="http://goukisan.newgrounds.com/audio/" target="_blank">Goukisan</a>. This all started in 2004 while experimenting with FLStudio. He put a couple of things on Newgrounds with no expectations of anyone caring. After a year or so, people started to notice. People started to like it. As soon as he made his hit song "Guitar Vs Piano" is when it hit the fan. People went crazy over it and now you can find the song all over the internet in flash games and videos on youtube. From that point on, he just kept making music and people continued to listen and enjoy it.

*Final note:* Congrats to <a href="/profile/nobody">Nobody</a> tonight for missing achievements but still hitting <a href="/stats/players_by_plays">1000 Thirdstyle game plays</a> One assumes he will likely pull a few more in the days to come ;) This puts him in with the likes of <a href="/profile/kpmuzik">kpmuzik</a>, <a href="/profile/Kynosaur">Kynosaur</a>, <a href="/profile/RebornStupidity">RebornStupidity</a>, <a href="/profile/toftt">toftt</a>, <a href="/profile/Thwonk">Thwonk</a>, <a href="/profile/awein999">awein999</a> all of whom are now well over 1000 plays. Insane!

also, u shud lay the achievement page out something like this because the current one does looka bit messy (no offence because i really do appreciate the update)

1 is the picture (maby u could copy like xbox achievements and have a greyscale version of the picture for achievements u havent unlocked ;P)
2 is the song unlocked
3 is the description
4 is if YOU have unlocked it or not (might not be needed if u go with the picture update, altho like a tick or something could be nice.)
5 is how many total unlocks it has
6 (i know there isnt a 6 on my drawing but meh this is an idea anyway) could be a difficulty for the achievement, perhaps with the same algo that you used for the song difficulty, less people that have unlocked it, the more difficulty rating it has... This could then be tied in to a NEW, yes NEEEEWWW.... wait for it... LEADERBOARD!!!! from which the sum of all unlocked achievements difficulty score will be added up, and shown in a leaderboard table. i love leaderboards and achievements.

and perhaps the achievement could also look like this:

The normal "achievements" list being your generic music game achievements like i mention below, and the "special achievements" list being thos achievements that are song specific and unlock a new song upon unlocking.

ALSO

i think the game needs some of the generic music genre achievements which perhaps dont unlock a new song...

things like 100,000,000 total score and play 1000 games............... these achievements make people play ALOT more.

i just game up with (what i think is) a beast achievement.

type "jonny me" in the chat, because as most of you know, typing this will result in skynet asking where the new song is.

and the song it unlocks could be MY song, yes, MY song, the one tass loves so much, and so does drugstore.

also, this achievement would be secret because it would be silly if it wasnt.

doign this will also give me an excuse to finish the file off for the song :p

it could be seen as a bit of a gimmicky achievement, but the games needs some of these so meh. also.

achievement page needs a link to the song you need to play to unlock the song, and a link to the song you've unlocked.

I think it would be a great idea for the name of the achievements to also be like a subtitle for you on the forum (under your main title, smaller in grey) this would be nice so you can show off hard achievements you have earned.

Btw, 1000 plays does not make you a veteran, being able to fc and aaa hard songs makes you a veteran.
100 plays would be Just starting.
1000 would be game whore.
5000 would be game addict.

This month is definitely a good time to get interested in ThirdStyle i think, with all the new achievements and song unlocks that are going to come out, your going to put it a fair few new songs, and possibly more from some of the great artists that are already on here.

Also, The easiest way to get people more interested in achievements that aren't unlocks would be to bing in achievement points and put rankings in for number of achievements and total achievements.

I'm seriously loving all the new features that all being put in, and when they are all polished to perfection, and we have some multiplayer in place, this game will be a strong contender for the best stepmania flash game (i already know it is :3)

how long is it befor we see a proper list of achievements? not complaining about the 2 that are out atm because they had NEW SONGS linked to them... but i wouldent say they were achievements as such... seeing how a noob could do them... blindfolded ;)

im thinking more along the lines of the "play 1000 games" and stuff like that, a nice big batch of them, no songs attached.

and perhaps you could even add a progress bar into the achievement table or something, no1 likes guessing when there gonna g et their achievement... maby not for games played because u can find that out, but if u were to have an achievement like "hit 10,000,000 arrows" or something, then u might like to know how close u are.
