Aspirations (DTDsphere)
Very bright, colorful, i feel like my main concern about this piece is that it's too bright, which could lead to distracting the players a tad. I do enjoy the abstract feel on this one, but the song feels more darker and should deserve a more somber and melancholy background. Needs Fixing


Is So Fun (Fenril)
Black Border line is in place well, this was a really creative idea for an image, i didn't expect it at all, but there's so much happening it's almost doing too much justice to the song! I really like it. Accept


MachinRAa Black (DTDsphere)
The Render, scan lines, and layers of this background are super clean and precise, it looks amazing, my only problem is how it fits with the song. It doesn't fit the title at all, but it somewhat fits the overall feel of the song. I'm gonna go ahead and Light Accept it, solely because its an awesome background, but for the song chosen, it's a tad skewed


Roots of Life (Fenril)
You did an really good job of balance on this piece, you kept the most important parts on the sides visible to the gameplayer. The colors are saturated perfectly as well, not too dark, not too bright, Overall it's a spectacular image, you did a great job making it a background. Accept

Well you fixed the size, but the image is significantly brighter, i liked the darker V1 version a little better, if you can darker up this version to be like V1, then this will be great. Accept with fixes

Not bad, simplistic, fits the theme. I think it's overall decent, not your best work, but if you wanted to go above with your work on this one, look a little further into the theme of black snow. You have have literal black snowflakes, or you could try to create something more globally relatable, like Black Snow could refer to Soot or Ash downfall debris from a post volcanic eruption or something, im just thinking a little more into how to have the BG filled more :P Needs Fixing

MUCH better improvement, there's a lot more color and feel in this one, the overall color schema adds to its simplistic flair. Big improvement, I love this one a lot more. Great layering as well. Accept

The Fallout of Eli v3 (Fenril)
Yep, you nailed it this time :) It's a typical Fallout background for a typical Fallout song, no harm done. I would've done the same thing personally, since well, i mean it fits the game most properly! Nice fixes, well done. Accept

The Girl Oceanic (Fenril)
My goodness, was definitely not expecting a clean anime background from you. This really caught me off-guard, frankly, i love it, a lot. Probably one of my favorites submitted to Thirdstyle, i guess i have a soft spot for painting style backgrounds and the color blue. The texture of the water refractions of light on her hair and in the layout were nice. The right side represents "The Girl Oceanic" while the left side compliments its theme so nicely. Again I'm really liking the pieces sent in so far. Accept

The white parts of the background are extremely bright and tend to draw attention, I think if you find a way to tone it down the background would look much better. Needs Fixing

I like the words in the background since the song is screamo. Matches nicely, you have a nice effect going over the image so it isn't flat. Very nicely done~ Accept

Is So Fun (Fenril)
The background is wonderful. Perfect for the song, has the right feel. I love all the colors and the vectors and everything, it makes the background ~fun~ Accept

This is very well done, I like the pattern overlay, that always gives the image a very clean feel. Very nice balance. Accept

This edit is the best IMO. You toned down the brightness which was a good move so it won't distract from the actual game play. Image choice was great, fitting of course, can't wait to see it in game. :) Accept

Whoa wait a minute. DTD's backgrounds weren't bad. There is some work to be done in some places like Shaun and I said but it wasn't a train wreck or anything. With a little bit of constructive criticism his backgrounds will be perfectly fine. Telling him to up right quit is just rude and uncalled for.. if he wants to pursue this kind of work we should be helping him.

Fallout of Eli is the wrong size. Rob sent in the V3 to be accepted since the size was fixed.

For Closure's backgrounds, the top text will be seen, i know that for a fact, i put in the dark top 50 pixels to account for game stats, ive done backgrounds with texts near the top before. You can trust me, it works. I know i could do better :P but it's the album cover for the band, i mean that represents the band best since they picked it out.

I like the other backgrounds you accepted, but for DTD's comment, that seems kind of irrational to say. When you're judging these pieces, don't judge based of bias of anecdotes. You wanna judge strictly on the background, which to me and chapstick show's no evidence he isn't familiar with graphics. What if the song name was Supernova? Or explosion? DTD's Aspiration background would fit a lot better and you probably wouldn't have said those things. In fact i think you said them on bias of emotion. Let's try to keep these emotions out of it.

That's all i have to say, Overall I'm satisfied with these notes, but they could be a little better, keep it up guys!

Loving the vibrance and colorss of this one. It gives a sense of hope and life, i enjoy that. Only problem, there's so much brightness it screws with your peripherals and it might distract a player much more than intended. Might be a bitchin' background if brightness down a tad. Light Accept

After listening to the song, i felt a tad minor tone to it, like the kind of tone that brings back some melancholy or sadness or something. the song is supposed to be happy, but the first version feels to happy for my taste to see it for the song :/ This one brings a mysteriously majestic feel, just as the song does. Very nicely done. Fitting theme, nice color scheme, not distracting but still adding a nice essence to the song. One thing I wanna know is if you could possibly move the two sides a little bit closer to each other. I'm not sure if you just placed the middle bar directly over the image or if you cut it, but it looks a little bit awkward, then again I might be crazy. Accept I'm just extremely OCD lmfao, so ignore me unless you agree~

Well you got the size dimensions correct, but you forgot to account for the middle pixels that will be covered completely by the game field. Along with that, the artwork itself is very lackluster and dull. I'm sorry, but i'm still gonna have to reject this one. Needs a lot more flair.

Turkey X (Chapstick)
LOL this is perfectly creative. It's just like the music video of it. I mean all silliness aside, it's pretty clever, to take the main theme of the song and overwhelm the background with it in a very comical sense. I like it, no complains here, nice to have a well made silly one. Accept

Good find, in terms of color, its pretty laid back and calm, but that's only half of it. I love the colors and theme, but only the airflow part is apparent. The main song itself is somewhat chaotic, ergo "Chaoz" and is upbeat and pretty on-the-edge. You should try to incorporate some finishing brushes and make the piece a tad more chaotic, maybe more lines? Some directional blurs? I hope you get where I'm coming from, this piece is so close to catching my full interest, don't give up on this one! Conditional Accept

As stated in the other graphics thread, we'd rather not have words included in the background. You also have to compensate for the info area at the top and the play area in the middle. This was a nice first attempt and you're on the right track but the background needs a lot more pizzazz. Try adding more action or color or something. Rejected

This is definitely a step forward, the only concern I have is that the colors are very bold and kind of harsh on the eyes. I don't think it will be though once the play area is put in so Accept

While this is a step up from the previous background, there's still words on it. Adding the title of the song to the background doesn't necessarily make it fit the title. Tje background is still rather dull. Try a different, more energetic approach, okay? Maybe add more color or lines. Rejected

Right size, nice to see a submission from some new faces! Let me start by saying, i was surprised to see this as a first submission, it's not half bad. However, the font is misplaced, it will get cut off in various places by the game field. You can avoid this next time by downloading the Background template from the Design Sticky Thread. As well, the background doesn't seem to encapture the feel of the song title either, it's just font over some cool vector brush lines. Maybe take a look at the currently accepted backgrounds, get a feel for what kind of images to be making. Don't give up, I'm gonna have to Reject this time, but i hope to see more work from you later on.

Correct size, the black lines on the bottom feel awkwardly placed there, and skewed. I'd rather there be no black line there and just keep the background continuing. As far as the background image, it seems very low quality and blurry, almost as if it were stretched to place. Maybe find a clearer image? It just seems hard on the eyes, and distracting if anything. I'm not sure what it has to do with shower of life, but i can see you're heading in the general direction. You're work is slower improving, prove me you can make this background look fantastic man, keep going.

Oh dear hahahahaha, I somehow knew this background was gonna come up eventually. Well the backing colors maintain the songs eerie nature and creeping lurking presence as you play. I love that about it, but the lady kinda makes me wonder, like what am i looking at? It just feels creepy altogether haha, i mean i love the color scheme picked out some far, but as far as pork cylinders this was a really hard choice, i don't quite get the feel of pork cylinders from it. But man, this was better than anything i expected so far lol. Sorry mang, im not sure how to help you, this is a tricky dick right here... Needs Fixes

Well you got the bordering right this time, however, I'm not seeing the aesthetic appeal of this background, it's very dull and faded, when the song itself it lively and upbeat dubstep. There needs to be more power and energy, also the font is very illegible, you should remove it, it's just proving to be a nuisance to try and read. :/ Needs Fixes

OH. MY. GOD. i'm dying, the second this opened up, i bust out laughing. Was totally not expecting this at all, it's so gross and creepy. It filthy like the song, yet silly and not so serious, as well, like the song. The resolution on this is frighteningly good, i can see way too much detail of his mouth lol it's gonna creep me out everytime i play this song, which is never cause LOLHOLDDUMP, regardless, I got a good laugh out of it and I'm sure others will too. I definitely understand the meaning for this one, but I'm not sure if it does the song so much justice, because I honestly can't look at the balloon and take this background seriously, it almost feels as if I'm supposed to "awh" at this, when the song title itself holds greater somber meaning. Overall, looks cool, but I think there's a better way to approach this. Needs Fixes

I did notice that, i must've left that out of my judge notes. I import the backgrounds into my template and find the deviation. It's slightly shifted off to the left, sorry shouldve pointed that out.

EDIT: Let's get Rob in on this thread for Notes. Would be nice to have a third opinion on conflicting verdicts.

Sorry, I'm not feeling it. It's very lackluster and dull and boring. The orange color was a nice idea, but the image quality is super low and looks unbearably blurred. The font doesn't match either, I suggest you not use font at all. Rejected

Yes oh boy yes, very nice work, I love it. Great quality image there, the balance of colors and symmetrical imagery is incredible. The left side girl balances with the fruity and saturated right side. The girl is nice as well, using anime in a background can be a risky safe-ground, but this really worked out for you, she is pretty appealing and at the same time, does not distract from the other aspects of this work. This along with TGO are probably in my top favorite backgrounds so far! Accept

P.S http://i.imgur.com/rgNxv.jpg Make sure your template is correct, I'm looking at it through my (red) template. This is not a big deal since the game field will noticably cut over it naturally, however parts of your image may be cut off later on after place in game. Bear in mind

Check the left side of the image, i think instead of replacing layers, you placed your layer on top of the backgroun for "Fall & 106". I can see a bit of orange tint peeking from the bordering edge of it, it's a tad distracting seeing how dark the background is, and that randomly there lol. I love the feel of the image, maybe go for something a tad more tribal, like tribal tattoo designs, and something a tad less floral. Needs Fixes

Oh man, this world looks anything but ordinary. Very colorful, and the resolution is gorgeous. Accept.

I’m gonna go ahead and disagree with Noc Noc on this one. I felt that the banner was very appropriate for the song. Color scheme reflects the haunting/sombre melodies used to back up the heavier DnB portions very well and the pic itself is easily relatable to the song title. I think this is a much cooler approach than what would’ve probably ended up as a banner depicting a prisoner behind bars or something of the sort. Accept.

Well, you’ve got the right idea. I personally wouldn’t go with black. I agree that the song has its ‘darker’ moments, but the constant onslaught of dem Jopnn tribal drums deserve something with a dash of colour to it. Try to get more tribal imagery in the pic. Make us feel like Jopnn’s dancing around a bonfire laughing maniacally while those hnnngjacks cut through our fingers like sharpened bamboo spears…okay, you don’t have to take it that far but you know what I mean. Tribal tattoo patterns would work well if you want to stick with a more abstract approach. Needs fixes.

Amber Starlight, I Love You (Chapstick)
It works, although I think it’d be REALLY neat if you could reduce the transparency of this banner and blend it with something that would emphasize the ‘I Love You’ portion as well. I have this image in my head of a few large pink hearts with luminous auras or something of the sort scattered around to offset the areas of the image that are less busy. Think about doing something like that if you want, otherwise I still think this gets the job done. Light Accept.

In all honesty, we know this BG is pretty crazy and not up to standards quality wise, but this is ian's stepfile and imho the BG represents the song's craziness, so I'll give a serious light accept for this case if ian wants his BG for his song. Light Accept

Ok well i will start with this, the background idea, beautiful. Works well with, i really like it. However, due to some requests from administration, particular our resident isk, he prefers that there be no black like bordering the game field with the template. This leaves some conflict due to our prior engagement to template usage, which sets us back even further than before when we had very little BGs in game. This needs to be addressed to all the admins, because honestly, the border "http://i.imgur.com/M4B5j.png" seen here is very natural, it rests against the playfield as if the image was made like that. And i believe it gives the BG more flavor, but before it goes in, this should be brought up to Tiza/Jason to see what they believe we should do. I honestly see no problem in the template usage so I'll Accept, however this issue should still be brought up to administration.

Again, love this BG, same issue as above. Accept

Super Sonic Ska (Halogen-)
I'm a bit on the edge for this one. Part of me wants to accept it for the pure fact of nostalgia every time i see this BG. However, I'm not sure it fits with the song, i mean technically it does perfectly portrait the Super Sonic aspect, but the Ska part is throwing me off, i was expecting sonic to be chillin at a coffee bar or something lolol. Also, the middle area that is transparent contains part of Dr. Robotnik's hand, it will be cut off, so long as you acknowledge this, It's your file, I'll Light Accept this if you still want it in game.

Exactly, that was my template. It was shown to Tiza when creating the Designers Subforum, and it had the border, and it was fine, everyone thought it was perfect. It wasn't until just recently isk brought up that he wants us to start making 800x600 BGs with no template. This, i'm assuming, is for other mods of gameplay, which has yet to be comfirmed with Isk, so im not sure what to do, but i think we should start making 800x600 with no breaks in them. Full bgs :P

I honestly don't see the small border around the scroll field to be a proble whatsoever. But a few people seem to despise it, so I'm taking for responsibility for making the mistake of giving people a template.

Obviously this image does the title justice as the imagery seems to tug your attention to the stars themselves, and the generous radiance of the colors paints the neon colored skyline beautifully. I was actually expecting a more playful background with this one. The colors on it are very nice and clean, but the song itself gives a playful attitude and would probably be better serviced with some lighter colors, such as pinks and light blues. In another view, the wackiness of the shapes and light chaos gives the song a more lighter feel so I do appreciate that, and think this is an overall acceptable BG. Just wish it complimented the song itself a little better. Light Accepted
